Objectives

Gain understanding of the issues associated with the manufacturing and use of high-performance polymers, for instance high-strength polymer fibers, conducting polymers, semi-conducting polymers and devices, and adhesives.

Structure

The course principally consists of practical work in the laboratories of the Polymer Technology group by teams of 2 students who have selected a topic from a list of available subjects.

Exam

The exam is conducted at the end of the Semester, and is a formal oral presentation of 30 minutes by the teams of the objectives, background, results and discussion of the subject investigated.

Requirements

Successful completion of the courses 327-0401-00L, Materialwissenschaft II, 529-0941-00L, Introduction to Macromolecular Chemistry and 327-0606-00, Polymere II.

Limited Participants

Due to the intensive nature of the assistance required for the course, the number of participants is limited to 10 students; first come – first serve. Master students have priority over doctoral students, who have priority over post-doctoral fellows.
