Technical Support
The D-MATL workshop is available to all members of the department. It is equipped with special tools, grinders, a welding apparatus and several machining tools, the most prominent being a CNC-controlled 5-axes machining center. The technical support team works mostly steel and aluminum. But since doctoral students often need highly customized items for their projects, the mechanics have also acquired vast experience in machining other materials like PTFE, PMMA, bulk metallic glasses and many more.
