The awardees are renowned for their research in tribochemistry over a period spanning three decades. The researchers collaborated at the Laboratory for Surface Science and Technology in the Department of Materials, ETH Zurich.
The award was established by the external pageJapanese Society of Tribologists in 2019 to honour those who have made outstanding contributions to the science and technology of tribochemistry. It was presented at the 2023 Tribochemistry Satellite Meeting of the International Tribology Conference in Beppu, Kyushu, Japan.
